What is Keyword Mapping?
Keyword mapping is the next step after doing your keyword research. Now that you have created your seed keywords for bringing traffic to your site, mapping assigns your chosen keywords to specific pages on your website. This process helps you focus more on your content within the website: where to optimize, content to build, and where new pages should be added to attract more people.
Why is it important?
A Keyword Map lets you view a site pages’ performance, determine the priorities of optimization, structure internal linking, see what every page is supposed to be optimized for, track weakness in keyword targeting strategy, avoid duplicates in content, and avoid keyword cannibalization (which avoids having pages compete for rankings). A Keyword Map will have your URLs listed out along with keywords that are associated with them and will primarily contain just short tail links.
